What to Know About Avis International Car Rentals
I am a preferred Avis customer and have been for years. I've rented all over the world. I walked into this Avis in Brindisi expecting a $500 rental for three days. When I received my final bill after returning the car via email they had added outrageous taxes that had not been brought to my attention upon pick up and charged me $200 for a scratch on the tire and ultimately charged me $900. NOTE: U.S. customer service cannot help you with international rentals, so I was forced to submit a claim via email and wait 30 days for a response. During that time, I called and emailed everywhere I could to no avail. Finally, I left negative reviews on TripAdvisor and Google. Someone from the local office responded to the Google review with a direct email address. After a few emails back and forth, they refunded me the $200 charge for the tire scratch, but my $500 rental was still $700 at the end of the day.
